After

After

When someone dies, there's so much to sort out.

Banks, pensions, bills, insurers: each one has to be told, and each asks the same questions. After lists what to do, and keeps a record of everyone you've told, with the date, who you spoke to and the reference number. You won't have to remember it all, or explain twice.

Take it one step at a time. Most of it can wait a few weeks.

Private by design

Details of someone who has died, and of their money and family, shouldn't sit on anyone's server. This list never leaves your device.

Keep a copy

  1. Save a copy. One PDF with every step and every call, ready to give the executor, a solicitor or family. Open it here to carry on.
  2. Keep it somewhere safe, such as your email or a cloud drive. This list only lives on this device, which could be lost or replaced.
  3. Sharing the work? Send the copy to whoever takes over. They open it here and carry on.

How your list stays private

  1. This page can't send anything. It tells your browser to block every connection it might try to make, so even if it wanted to, it couldn't send what you write to us or anyone else.
  2. Kept on this device, for you. Your list is kept in this browser so you can stop and carry on over the coming weeks. Nobody else can reach it. You can remove it any time, at the bottom of your list.
  3. Try airplane mode. Once this page has loaded, turn off Wi-Fi and data. Everything still works, including saving your copy.
  4. What we count. How many times this page is opened each day, and which site sent people here. It's a number per day, with no cookies and nothing about you. It never includes anything you write.
  5. What's up to you. The copies you save hold account and reference numbers. Keep them as carefully as their bank statements.
